According to local residents, from the early hours of March 15, loudspeakers and the red colours of flags, flowers, and banners filled roads across both urban and rural areas of Vinh Long Province. To ensure that election day truly became a festival of the whole people, provincial leaders and local authorities identified communication work as a key task.
A bright spot rooted in public support
In Cai Von Ward, one of Vinh Long Province’s key localities, the election atmosphere was particularly vibrant. With 25,781 voters distributed across 24 polling teams, the pressure to ensure both progress and turnout was considerable. Thanks to thorough preparation, however, the ward completed voting very early.
Vinh Long Province’s overall success was woven from the outstanding performance of polling teams at the grassroots level. Among the province’s 2,855 polling teams, Polling Teams No. 19 and 20 in My Thoi 1 Group, Cai Von Ward, stood out as examples of initiative and creativity.
At Polling Team No. 19, which had 607 voters, the 21 team members worked in an atmosphere that was both urgent and methodical. Pham Van Vinh, head of Polling Team No. 19, said with satisfaction: “This term, we assigned specific comrades with communication skills to handle voter outreach. We regularly used portable loudspeakers and mobile karaoke speakers to go around the neighbourhood reminding residents. As a result, by exactly 8:30am, we had completed the election. This is an unprecedented achievement compared with previous terms.”
Equally impressive, Polling Team No. 20, with 695 voters, also completed its work very early. The area is predominantly rural, with most voters making their living from farming. Understanding local routines, the team proactively informed residents of the date and time so they could arrange their farm work and cast their ballots before heading to the fields.
Nguyen Van Bay, head of Polling Team No. 20, explained their approach to voter mobilisation: “We worked out the plan together and assigned tasks among ourselves so that when delivering voter cards, we could also remind residents of the voting time and location. We created the most convenient conditions possible so that people could cast their ballots and then return home to attend to family work. Seeing the lively turnout at the polling station was very encouraging for us.”
That close attention was also reflected in direct reminders. Truong Thanh Tung, Secretary and head of My Thoi 1 Group, said that on the afternoon of March 14, team members went to every household to remind residents one more time, ensuring that no one forgot the schedule.
When Party’s will meet people’s support
A distinctive feature of Cai Von was its flexible approach to voter outreach. Rather than relying solely on fixed loudspeaker systems, the ward used small mobile loudspeaker units mounted on motorbikes to reach every street and narrow alley. Those familiar sounds helped residents better appreciate the importance of their vote and their responsibility as citizens.
The enthusiasm of voters in Cai Von Ward in particular, and Vinh Long Province in general, did not emerge by chance. It was the result of persistent mobilisation efforts that helped people understand that each ballot was not only a right, but also a way of placing trust in deputies with both virtue and ability.
At polling stations, the image of elderly voters with silver hair lining up neatly alongside young first-time voters and carefully reviewing candidate lists created a vivid picture of democratic participation. Transparency in publicly posting candidate lists and the dedication of polling-team members fostered complete public trust.
Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Chairman of the Cai Von People’s Committee and Chairman of Ward’s Election Committee, said: “To ensure that voters cast their ballots correctly, vote fully, and vote early, we established a steering committee with full participation from Party committees, sectors, and mass organisations. We identified voter-card preparation as extremely important, followed by communication efforts both broad and deep.”
The final result confirmed that the province had chosen the right approach. By the evening of March 15, nationwide voter turnout had reached 99.68%. Vinh Long was honoured to be among the four provinces and cities with the highest turnout in the country, alongside Lao Cai, Hue, and Tuyen Quang. Vinh Long completed the election with voter turnout reaching 99.99%.
The success of election work in Vinh Long, especially in “bright spots” such as Cai Von Ward, affirmed the strength of the great national unity bloc. The important contribution of polling teams, people who quietly devoted themselves to community work, helped bring official Party and State information closer to the people.
The lessons learned from communication and voter mobilisation by Polling Teams No. 19 and 20, as well as the determination shown by Cai Von Ward’s leadership, will continue to spread and become valuable experience for future socio-political activities. The election day will remain a memorable milestone of unity between the Party and the people on the heroic land of Vinh Long on March 15, 2026.
