Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh made the statement during a meeting with the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association (VWVA) and the Vietnam Veterans Business Association (VVBA) in Hanoi on April 27.

The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister stressed that over the past 30 years, the VWVA has always deserved its role and position, being a reliable and solid support of party committees, authorities and people, and promoting the good qualities of "Uncle Ho’s" soldiers in the country's renovation period.

Over recent years, the VWVA and the VVBA have had solid development in terms of organisation size and the number and quality of operations. The associations have implemented the functions and tasks assigned by the Party and the State, actively contributing to the construction and protection of the Party, authorities and people, maintaining political stability at the grassroots level, leading activities to pay gratitude to national contributors, participating in socio-economic development, ensuring security and defense, and fighting against corruption and negative acts.

The VVBA is an example to educate the young generation on revolutionary traditions; affirming its role as a prestigious socio-political organisation, an active member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Politburo member Truong Hoa Binh said.

The veterans were also asked to successfully implement local political, economic, social, security and defense tasks; continue to promote the emulation movement "exemplary veterans"; unite, support and help each other in economic development, with fast and sustainable poverty reduction.
