The event was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Nguyen Trong Nghia, who is also Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications, and Education and Mass Mobilisation; and General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the PCC and Head of the General Department of Politics of the Viet Nam People’s Army.
In his remarks, Politburo member Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasised that after three editions, the contest has left a significant mark and gained widespread resonance, becoming one of the most effective communication channels in promoting awareness of Viet Nam’s sacred maritime and island sovereignty.
He urged the organising committee, artists, and those engaged in communication work on maritime and island issues to deepen their understanding of the Party’s viewpoints, orientations, and policies, as well as the State’s laws concerning the sea and islands. He also called for continued innovation in the content and methods of communication, particularly in external information efforts, focusing resources on digital transformation while enhancing the effectiveness, educational value, and persuasive power of the work. Additionally, he stressed the importance of improving the quality and professionalism of personnel involved in communications of maritime and island.

The National Art Photography Contest and Exhibition entitled “Homeland by the Waves” is held biennially. The third edition, launched from March to July 2025, received 15,770 photographic works from 3,514 authors.
After several rounds of evaluation, the judging panel selected 150 outstanding works for display at the exhibition, including 22 prize-winning pieces including 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 6 third prizes, and 10 consolation prizes.
The two first prizes were awarded to Nguyen Viet Hoang Long (from Quang Ninh Province) for the single photo “Under the National Flag” and Nguyen Khac Hao (Hung Yen Province) for the photo series entitled “Vibrant Anchovy Season.”

On this occasion, the organising committee also presented Certificates of Merit from the PCC’s Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilisation to eight provinces and cities for their outstanding coordination in implementing the contest.
Following the success of the third edition of “Homeland by the Waves” contest, the PCC’s Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilisation, in collaboration with relevant agencies, will continue to develop a bilingual photo book, a digital photo book, a virtual exhibition, and organise photo exhibitions across provinces and cities nationwide.
