Work commences on social housing project for workers in Ho Chi Minh City

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction held a ground-breaking ceremony on April 25 to commence the construction of a housing project for workers at the Linh Trung II Export-Processing Zone.

The project has received investment from Thien Phat Company at a total cost of 408 billion VND (17.7 million USD) and is scheduled for completion in the next 24 months.

The first phase, featuring 350 apartments, has already been completed and put into use and the second phase will add an additional 360 apartments, with each covering 25-70 square metres, meeting the needs of about 1,000 workers.

According to Thien Phat Company’s General Director Nguyen Van Loi, the project will increase the number of affordable houses for workers at the Linh Trung II Export-Processing Zone.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction Tran Hoang Quan shared that the city aims to build over 35,700 social apartments during the 2021-2025 period.
