The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will convene its 9th congress in late February in the capital, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Sunday. The decision was adopted unanimously on Saturday at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, said the KCNA report.

* A shooting incident with an explosion occurred in Bannang Sata District, southern Thailand's Yala province on Sunday, injuring one election security guard, according to Thai media reports. Thailand held an election for the new House of Representatives from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time on Sunday.

* Portuguese voters return to the polls on Sunday for the second round of the presidential elections, the first such runoff in roughly four decades, in a contest between the center-left and the far-right.

* China's ratio of total social logistics costs to gross domestic product (GDP) fell to 13.9 percent in 2025, dropping below the 14 percent threshold for the first time, the country's top economic planner said on Saturday. The reading was 0.8 percentage points lower than the level at the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), according to the National Development and Reform Commission.

* Russian forces have carried out a large-scale strike on Ukrainian military facilities, using Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, Russia's defense ministry said Saturday. Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal confirmed that Russia launched a major attack on the country's energy infrastructure, the second such strike on Ukraine's energy network in less than a week.

* Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said on Saturday that he will travel to Washington on Wednesday to discuss the Iran-U.S. talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. The two will discuss "the negotiations with Iran," Netanyahu's office said in a statement, adding that Netanyahu "believes that any talks must include restrictions on ballistic missiles and an end to support for the Iranian axis."
