* Pakistan and India announced on Saturday that they agreed on a ceasefire. The announcement came following four days of military strikes on each other.

* Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday, in what Pakistani security sources described as a breach of a recently announced ceasefire agreement between the two countries.

* Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday expressed the hope that Pakistan and India will peacefully resolve all outstanding issues, including the equitable distribution of water resources and the longstanding dispute over Jammu and Kashmir.

* Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed on Sunday the resumption of direct negotiations with Ukraine on May 15 in Istanbul. In a statement to journalists at the Kremlin, Putin said Russia remains committed to serious negotiations with Ukraine to address the root causes of the ongoing conflict and lay the groundwork for a lasting and stable peace.
