The award, the first of its kind, is presented every two years to honour collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in vocational education, thus contributing to promoting Ho Chi Minh City’s development and integration.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc, stressed that vocational education plays an important role in the economic development of a country, as it helps to supply human resources for the labour market.
He said that the success and development of vocational training are attributed to many factors, including the contributions of teachers and managers working in the field.
According to the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, there are more than 37 vocational education institutions in the city, which provide nearly 125,000 skilled workers to the labour market every year.
The number of teachers and managers working in this field is 12,240 people.
