527 new COVID-19 cases recorded on July 5 afternoon

Additional 527 COVID-19 infections were detected on July 5 afternoon, including 13 imported cases, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Of the new domestically-transmitted cases, 270 were found in Ho Chi Minh City, which is the country’s current largest pandemic hotspot. Binh Duong recorded 114 cases, Dong Thap 62, Tien Giang 11, Phu Yen 11, Khanh Hoa 10, Dong Nai 8, An Giang 6, Binh Phuoc 4, Ba Ria-Vung Tau 4, Binh Dinh 3, Tay Ninh 3, Bac Giang 3, Quang Ngai 2, Bac Ninh 1, Nghe An 1, and Lam Dong 1.

Of the new infections, 482 were found in quarantine sites or sealed-off areas.

In the whole day, 1,102 cases were confirmed, the most-ever COVID-19 infections in one day in the country.

So far, Vietnam has documented 19,164 domestic and 1,871 imported cases.

There have been 17, 594 cases recorded since April 27, when the fourth outbreak hit the country.

The number of recoveries is 8,022, while the death toll is 90.

Fourteen cities and localities have spent at least 14 days without new cases.

Among active patients undergoing treatment, 313 have tested negative to the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 133 twice, and 72 thrice.
