Driven by the determination of leaders at all levels and the people, bilateral cooperation in various fields faces many favourable conditions, helping to advance the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership more substantively and effectively.

Viet Nam and Russia are experiencing a dynamic 2025 marked by major events that have provided strong momentum for bilateral ties. One of the most significant milestones was General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to Russia and his attendance at the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War in May. The visit further strengthened political trust and deepened the long-standing traditional friendship between the two countries, thereby providing fresh impetus to sustain the positive trajectory of bilateral relations.

A host of agreements were signed during the visit, spanning diplomacy, national defence, oil and gas, science and technology, education and training, and the peaceful use of nuclear energy. These agreements testify to the determination of the two countries’ leaders to “renew” Viet Nam-Russia relations. In addition to promoting traditional areas of cooperation, both sides have also opened up new frameworks for collaboration, leveraging each other’s strengths.

High-level dialogue and exchanges between leaders continue on a regular basis. Delegation visits, people-to-people exchanges, forums and seminars continue to be organised, reaffirming respect for shared historical values while deepening bilateral cooperation.

The year 2025 has also witnessed mutual participation in each other’s important national events. Following the participation of Vietnamese soldiers in Russia’s Victory Day military parade, Russia also sent senior leaders and a military contingent to take part in the parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Viet Nam’s National Day.

Russia’s top leaders have also sent congratulatory messages and letters to Vietnamese leaders, warmly extending their best wishes to the Party, State and people of Viet Nam on the 80th anniversary of National Day. They also stressed that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Viet Nam is developing positively, and that joint coordination on regional and international issues is yielding encouraging results in a spirit of mutual respect and consideration for each other’s interests.

In cultural cooperation, 2025 has brought renewed inspiration to the peoples of both nations. Of particular note was the Viet Nam Cultural Festival held at Red Square in Moscow from late July to early August, attracting around one million visitors. The festival was a significant highlight in the cultural life of both countries. Organised to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Russia, the festival was warmly embraced by the Russian public and drew great interest from Vietnamese people.

Following this impressive festival, the image of Viet Nam and its people continued to gain enthusiastic reception in Russia, notably through Vietnamese singer Duc Phuc, who won Intervision, an international singing contest hosted by Russia. These successes in cultural exchange and cooperation have further strengthened bonds between the two peoples, paving the way for the two countries to implement new projects across various fields in the near future.

Viet Nam-Russia relations are undergoing transformation, gaining strong new momentum for truly comprehensive cooperation.

Political ties are becoming more reliable, while cooperation in other fields is increasingly dynamic and effective. According to the Ambassador, both sides have discovered additional drivers for traditional cooperation and opened up promising new directions. These advantages will allow the two countries to carry through 2025 with further major events ahead.
