Addressing the launch ceremony, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Chairwoman of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Bui Thi Minh Hoai said that this is an opportunity for us to look back the tragic consequences of wars as well as encourage and help AO victims who are suffering from physical and mental pain as well as immense hardship in their lives.

She noted that the Party and State have always paid due attention to addressing consequences of AO dioxin and spent tens of thousands of billion Vietnamese dong each year on subsidies, health care, and support for people and areas heavily affected by AO.

Hoai also called on Vietnamese people both at home and abroad and international organisations to respond to the action month to help AO victims have a better life.

On this occasion, a portal of the National Action Centre for Toxic Chemicals and Environment Treatment (NACCET) was launched to province information on the efforts of Vietnam and its peace-loving friends across the world in overcoming the consequences of post-war toxic chemicals on the environment and people.

The organisers also displayed images of remedying the consequences of toxic chemicals, taking care of AO victims, and receiving support from organisations and individuals for AO victims. Benefactors have pledged to donate nearly 100 billion VND to support AO victims.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) and the National Humanitarian Portal 1400 have also launched a text campaign to raise funds to assist AO victims.

People can text DA CAM to 1409 (20,000 VND for each message) to raise funds for AO victims.
