During the meeting, the businesses provided updates on their operations and development plans and discussed challenges related to security, exchange rates, international payments, and administrative procedures, among other topics.
The businesses noted that recent developments in Myanmar have created a number of new opportunities. However, they stressed that the country’s investment and business environment continues to present significant challenges.
They stated that the market still offers considerable growth potential in sectors including telecommunications, digital transformation, financial services, infrastructure development, energy, construction materials, logistics, agriculture, and tourism.
Several businesses said they had adjusted their strategies, restructured their operations, and sought new partners and business directions better suited to the current circumstances.
For his part, Ambassador Duc briefed participants on Viet Nam’s development goals and priorities in the new era.
He also outlined Viet Nam’s foreign policy, including its commitment to further advancing multi-faceted relations with Myanmar, particularly in the fields of trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
Commending the resilience and adaptability demonstrated by members of the Vietnamese business community in Myanmar, Ambassador Duc encouraged them to further strengthen their risk management capacity, comply with local laws, enhance cooperation, share information, and provide mutual support.
He also called on businesses to work more closely with the embassy in carrying out economic diplomacy activities, thereby reinforcing the presence of Vietnamese enterprises in Myanmar.
The diplomat affirmed that the embassy would continue to support the business community by providing market information, updating enterprises on changes to Myanmar’s policies and laws, issuing risk alerts, and facilitating connections with Myanmar authorities and business associations.
