During the visit, Nguyen Long Hai and the delegation held working sessions with Desmond Choo, a member of the Central Executive Committee of Singapore's People’s Action Party (PAP) and Minister of State for Defence, and Lee Hong Chuang, Member of the Parliament of Singapore.
The delegation visited the PAP headquarters and met with Danny Ngiam, Deputy Head of the PAP's full-time administrative body and the official in charge of external relations. It also visited Nanyang Technological University and the Chandler Institute of Governance, held a working session with the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, and toured several notable economic and digital transformation facilities in the country.
During the meetings, PAP leaders and Singaporean representatives welcomed and highly appreciated the delegation's visit, describing it as an event that would help consolidate and further deepen relations between the two parties and countries.
In particular, Desmond Choo, member of the PAP Central Executive Committee and Minister of State for Defence, recalled his strong impressions of the highly successful official visit to Singapore by Tran Cam Tu, Politburo Member and Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, during which he co-chaired the first Viet Nam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue in August.
Singaporean leaders congratulated Viet Nam on its major achievements in recent years, noting that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the country had recorded significant progress, particularly in restructuring the political system's organisational apparatus, maintaining strong economic growth, developing infrastructure, and building a skilled workforce.
They emphasised that Viet Nam possesses the necessary conditions to capitalise on its strengths and play an increasingly important role in the region and the world. They also affirmed that Singapore has always regarded Viet Nam as one of its leading partners in the region.
Nguyen Long Hai thanked the Singaporean side for its warm and respectful reception of the delegation. He expressed satisfaction with and appreciation for the increasingly strong and positive development of the Viet Nam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across various fields, as demonstrated by visits and exchanges between senior leaders.
Nguyen Long Hai affirmed that the Party and State of Viet Nam attach great importance to relations with Singapore’s People’s Action Party and Singapore, consistently giving them high priority in their foreign policy. He called on both sides to continue effectively implementing agreements reached by the senior leaders of the two parties and countries, as well as existing cooperation mechanisms.
He said that, to follow up on the outcomes of the official visit to Singapore by Tran Cam Tu, Politburo Member and Standing Member of the Secretariat, in August, Vietnamese agencies were actively proposing programmes and areas of cooperation in personnel training, strengthening cooperation through Party channels and other fields.
On the occasion, Nguyen Long Hai also shared Viet Nam’s major achievements after 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal) under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
He noted that Viet Nam is currently making concerted efforts to effectively implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress; the resolutions of the second, third, and fourth plenums of the 14th Party Central Committee; and the Politburo’s new strategic resolutions.
