The four-day event, one of the AVC’s two international women’s beach volleyball tours, is part of cultural and sporting activities welcoming the 2015 Ha Long Carnival, which is scheduled to open on May 8.
This year’s tournament brings together 18 teams from 10 countries and territories around the world – the largest number so far – including many strong women’s beach volleyball teams in Asia such as China, Japan, Hong Kong (China), Australia, New Zealand and Kazakhstan.
The participants are competing according to a knockout format with those suffering two losses being excluded. The best eight teams will advance into the semifinal and final rounds.
After the opening ceremony, a match between Vietnam 1 and New Zealand took place with a 2-0 victory for Vietnam.
