The 75-page bilingual Vietnamese – English book entitled ‘Fidel Castro – Quang Tri, a Historical Day 1973’, published by the Thuan Hoa Publishing House, provides readers with nearly 150 pictures capturing the Cuban leader’s activities during his stay in the locality in September 1973.

The pictures, accompanied with clear legends, were taken by veteran photographer – journalist Ho Sy So, who was a war correspondent in the demilitarized zone of Quang Tri province.

He was one of a few Vietnamese journalists who accompanied Fidel during his visit to Quang Tri, the only visit by a foreign state leader to a fierce battlefield in Vietnam at that time. His photos taken during the trip were displayed at an exhibition in 2011 to celebrate Fidel’s 85th birthday.
