Quang Ninh begins construction of four large projects worth US$12.3 billion

The northern province of Quang Ninh commenced the construction of four large projects worth a total of VND280 trillion (over US$12.3 billion) on October 24, which are expected to fuel the local economy.

The four projects include the Quang Ninh liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant in Cam Pha city, Van Ninh Port in Mong Cai city, the Green Ha Long urban complex in Ha Long city and Quang Yen town, and Dong Trieu Golf Course in Dong Trieu town.

The Quang Ninh LNG power plant covers 56ha in Cam Thinh ward, Cam Pha city and has received total investment of over VND47.4 trillion (US$2 billion). Upon its completion, the plant is expected to provide approximately 9 billion kWh of electricity to the national grid per year.

This is the first power project using imported liquefied natural gas in the North, which will contribute to building Quang Ninh into a service and industrial province and one of the dynamic and comprehensive development centres of the North.

Van Ninh Port has received total investment of over VND2.2 trillion (US$96.7 million) and is scheduled for completion in April 2024. The port will be capable of receiving vessels of up to 20,000 DWT, and is expected to boost import and export activities through the Mong Cai International Border Gate.

The Green Ha Long urban complex has been invested with over VND230 trillion (US$96.7 million) and is anticipated to create a new urban face and a unique tourism product in the sea city.

The 27-hole golf course project covers 130ha with total investment of over VND1.2 trillion (US$52.7 million) which will be able to serve about 800 guests per day.

With the implementation of key projects, Quang Ninh is making efforts to improve its infrastructure and services to create room for long-term and sustainable development.
