The PGI is an index for evaluating and ranking environmental quality in 63 provinces and cities from the perspective of enterprises, the application of environmentally friendly technology in the enterprises, the environmental behaviour of enterprises, and the level of willingness to invest in the environment in localities.
The goal of the green index is to encourage provinces and cities in Vietnam to pay greater attention to economic development associated with environmental protection, provide timely information to support provincial administration in policy planning, promotethe construction of an eco-friendly business ecosystem, and contribute to attracting investors with environmental awareness and quality “green” projects for Vietnam.
The construction of the PGI aims to provide information on environmental quality, assist localities in screening investment projects, and at the same time create a driving force for businesses to invest in an environmentally friendly direction.
PGI has been implemented in 2022, integrated in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) survey. VCCI and supporting agencies have developed a set of indicators, conducted surveys, analysed results, developed and published reports, and promoted PGI information to localities.
