The event was jointly organised by the Embassy of Viet Nam in Russia, the Saint Petersburg Committee for External Relations, the Russia–Viet Nam “Tradition and Friendship” Foundation, and UNECON.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi stressed that Viet Nam–Russia economic cooperation is entering a period of new opportunities. He noted that Viet Nam Economic Day was not merely a cultural exchange or trade promotion activity, but also a forum connecting knowledge, businesses, and younger generations of Viet Nam and Russia.

The Ambassador highly appreciated this year’s programme, which combined business roundtable discussions, student forums, and traditional cultural and food fairs. He said the model was practical in enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries while creating a lively and welcoming exchange space for students and the international community in Saint Petersburg.

Sharing the Ambassador’s assessment, Vice Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Committee for External Relations Vyacheslav Kalganov affirmed that Viet Nam and Saint Petersburg enjoy long-standing historical ties and dynamic cooperation. He said the Committee places special importance on promoting Russia–Viet Nam friendship and expanding cooperation with Vietnamese partners across all sectors.

Vyacheslav Kalganov emphasised that, alongside traditional areas of cooperation, Viet Nam and Saint Petersburg hold considerable potential for collaboration in tourism, healthcare, and services, thereby contributing to deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in line with the interests of both peoples. He added that Viet Nam Economic Day would provide an opportunity for the two sides to engage in effective dialogue, explore new directions for cooperation, and strengthen sincere friendship.

Reviewing the achievements in bilateral cooperation in recent years, President of the Union of Vietnamese Organisations in Russia Do Xuan Hoang expressed confidence that, under the wise leadership of both countries and with the active participation of the business community, Viet Nam–Russia relations would continue to grow stronger, deeper, and more sustainable on the basis of mutual trust.

In an interview with Nhan Dan correspondents in Russia, UNECON Vice Rector for International Cooperation Dmitry Vasilenko said Viet Nam is one of ASEAN’s leading countries and serves as the final destination of Russia’s North–South transport and logistics corridor in the region.

According to Dmitry Vasilenko, Russia and Viet Nam need to work together to realise their existing potential. He said the priority was to create new markets for energy, food, financial services, insurance, and transport, while synchronising infrastructure and harmonising supply chains.

At the plenary session, experts, business representatives, and members of the academic community focused discussions on the current state and prospects of Russia–Viet Nam cooperation, highlighting the development of bilateral economic ties under new conditions, opportunities for joint projects, and investment and cooperation in education.

Within the framework of Viet Nam Economic Day, a series of activities was also organised for businesses and students from both countries. Notably, the organisers held a fair introducing traditional Vietnamese agricultural products.
