Prominent guests at the event included Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu.

The ceremony started with a performance depicting the life and career of comrade Tran Phu, who was an excellent disciple of President Ho Chi Minh, a talented Party leader and a resilient soldier of international communist and worker movements.

Addressing the ceremony, Secretary of the Ha Tinh provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Ha Tinh provincial People's Council Nguyen Thanh Binh recalled the life of Tran Phu, expressing his gratitude to him and other leaders who made significant contributions to the cause of national revolution and liberation.

Tran Phu was born on May 1, 1904 to a poor family in An Dan commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province, and his hometown is Tung Anh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province.

Tran Phu co-founded and joined many patriotic organisations in his youth. In July 1930, he was admitted to the provisional Party Central Committee and assigned to make the first draft of the Party Political Thesis. The Thesis was approved at the first Congress of the Party Central Committee in October 1930, and Tran Phu was voted in as the first General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam in October 1930.

He was arrested by the French colonialists on April 19, 1931. Despite brutal torture, the enemy could not break his ironclad will. He laid down his life on September 6, 1931 at the age of 27.

Despite the short time he participated in revolutionary activities, he completed an enormous amount of work, leaving precious heritage for the Party and the people.

The Party Political Thesis drafted by Tran Phu and other Party documents adopted during his term in office as party secretary contributed to forming the basic guideline for the Vietnam revolution which directed the national revolution to overcome all challenges and gain victory.

On behalf of the younger generation, Secretary of the Ha Tinh provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Xuan Hung expressed his pride and gratitude for Secretary Tran Phu, saying that the younger generation would try to contribute to their hometowns and to national construction and defence.
