Chinese media reported that on July 24, the Shijiazhuang-Hanoi freight train departed from Shijiazhuang International Land Port in Hebei Province, China to Yen Vien Station, Hanoi, Vietnam, marking the trade route on land connecting Shijiazhuang city with localities of Vietnam being officially put into operation. This train is expected to run once a week.

This first train carried 46 containers, mainly metal and fertilizer, with a total value of more than 5 million yuan. After a seven-day journey of more than 2,700 km, the train will enter Vietnam through Pingxiang border gate, Guangxi to Yen Vien station, Hanoi.

A representative from the Shijiazhuang international land port said that Vietnam is one of the main trading partners of Hebei province in ASEAN. Previously, transporting goods by sea to ASEAN markets, including Vietnam, usually took 15 days, but the opening of this Sino-Vietnamese railway has now shortened the time to transport goods to 7 days.

Along with exploiting the advantages of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the regular operation of China-Vietnam trains will effectively promote the development of two-way trade between Hebei and ASEAN, and further promote the formation of cooperation between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Southeast Asian countries with complementary resources and common development.

It is reported that with the opening of the line between Shijiazhuang and Hanoi, the relevant parties in Vietnam and Shijiazhuang International Land Port have reached a consensus to comprehensively strengthen their cooperation in the fields of bilateral cargo source organization, two-way train operation, collection and distribution system construction, international multimodal transport and overseas warehouse construction, jointly promote the improvement and improvement of the quality of China-Vietnam train transportation, and promote the "Vietnam-China model" of freight transport.

According to data from Shijiazhuang City Customs, in 2022, ASEAN is the largest trading partner of Hebei province, with total two-way trade turnover of 76.67 billion yuan. In the first five months of 2023, the import-export turnover of Hebei province with ASEAN reached 28.93 billion yuan, of which 4.22 billion yuan was between Hebei province and Vietnam's localities.
