In his opening speech, Nguyen Van Du, Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Phuc Ward, said the event aims to honour the traditional silk weaving craft and promote local handicraft products to domestic and international visitors.

He stated that this is an opportunity for Van Phuc Ward and Ha Dong District to strengthen tourism promotion, introduce visitors to the diversity of the local area and spread images and people of Van Phuc to a wider community and friends.

Taking place until December 6, the programme includes assorted cultural, commercial and tourism activities, including a procession honouring the village's silk weaving craft, music and dance performances, and the inauguration of an exhibition house displaying photos, documents and objects on Van Phuc Silk Village.

There will also be contests to find young new talents in the craft village and prizes for the best silk weaving skills and pattern designs.
