Central localities tuned into National Day celebrations

Numerous activities have been scheduled in cities and localities across the country to celebrate the 70th anniversary of National Day (September 2).

In central Thua Thien-Hue province, tourist attractions in Hue imperial city will be open for free for Vietnamese visitors from 7 am to 5 pm on September 2 as part of the Golden Tourism Week.

Under the programme, which will run from September 2-8, visitors who buy tickets to three sites - the Royal Palace, and the tombs of Khai Dinh and Minh Mang - will receive complimentary tickets to the tombs of Thieu Tri and Tu Duc. Those who buy tickets to the three sites plus the tomb of Tu Duc will receive free entrance to four more sites: the tombs of Gia Long and Thieu Tri, Hon Chen temple and An Dinh palace.

Tourists traveling in groups larger than 20 will be provided a free tour guide and discounted prices for food, drinks, photography and electric car services.

The UNESCO-recongised World Heritage Site of My Son Sanctuary in Quang Nam province will also be open free for tourists on the National Day. As the first time the site’s organising board has launched the promotion, it is expected to welcome over 1,000 tourists on the occasion.

On the early morning of September 2, an annual boat race will take place on Thu Bon river in Quang Nam province, gathering 11 male teams and nine female teams from districts in the province. 

An array of cultural and arts activities will be staged to cheer locals and holidaymakers in the central coastal city of Da Nang on the national holiday, including a street music festival along Bach Dang street on September 2 and a 15-minute firework display at 9 pm the same day.

A photography exhibition and a stamp display on the theme of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh are running at Da Nang museum from August 27 to September 8.
