Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Martyrs’ Temple wins Vietnam Urban Planning Award

A ceremony was held in Dien Bien Phu City, the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien, on April 15 to attach the sign of “SPECIAL PRIZE” under the third Vietnam Urban Planning Award (VUPA) 2022 for the project of Martyrs’ Temple at Dien Bien Phu Battlefield.

The Martyrs’ Temple at Dien Bien Phu Battlefield is located is located on F Hill, one of 45 component relic sites of the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield relic complex that has been ranked as a special national relic site.

The construction of the project began on March 13, 2021 and was completed on May 18, 2022. The construction and planning of the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Martyrs' Temple has created a continuous and complete linkage for the entire memorial area and surrounding historical relics such as A1 Hill, A1 martyrs’ cemetery, Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum and Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument.

The temple has a total area of nearly 0.5 hectares with three main spaces including an entry area, a memorial space and the main temple.

Alternating between the main spaces are paths, flower-planted hillsides and miniature landscapes.

The “SPEICAL PRIZE” signboard to the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Martyrs' Temple was a practical activity, aiming to pay tribute to the heroes and fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives and blood to the country.
