2024 Cua Lo Tourism Season officially kicks off

The 2024 Cua Lo Tourism Season officially kicked off with an art programme held at Binh Minh Square in Cua Lo Town, in the central province of Nghe An, on April 18.

With three parts, the art programme highlighted marine culture, focusing on portraying and honouring the cultural and historical traditions and lifestyle of fishermen in Cua Lo Town through traditional festivals.

The performances also affirmed the strong growth and change of Cua Lo coastal tourism urban area over the past 30 years of construction and development.

Speaking at the programme, Bui Dinh Long, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee, said Cua Lo Town has been gradually changing into a crowded coastal tourism urban area and an ideal and attractive destination with an infrastructure system that can accommodate more than 30,000 guests every day and night.

He also stressed that the 2024 Cua Lo Tourism Season is an opportunity for Nghe An Province to promote its values, natural resources, and tourism products to both domestic and foreign visitors.

In addition to the combination of a unique fireworks display, this year's art programme included an artistic light show with hundreds of drones.

Throughout the tourism season, a wide variety of unique traditional festivals will also be held, such as the Cau Ngu (Whale worshipping) Festival at Hieu Village’s Temple in Nghi Hai Ward, a night street music and food festival, an art programme featuring Vi – Giam folk singing, and a chef contest.

On the occasion, Cua Lo Town was honoured to receive a decision recognising Yen Luong Temple Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

This is a folk festival associated with the belief of worshiping the four Saints and the gods of coastal residents.

Cua Lo Beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in the North Central region. In 2023, Cua Lo Town attracted more than 3.6 million tourists and earned 3.562 trillion VND from service and tourism activities.

Cua Lo has set the goal of welcoming 4.15 million tourists and earning 4.2 trillion VND from tourism in 2024.
