Reporting on the preparatory work, Da Nang Chairman Le Trung Chinh stated that the city will promptly establish a preparatory committee for the IFC comprising 27 members, along with an advisory council of 10 experts who have experience working at international financial centres.
Da Nang has also been collaborating with international associations to seek support in connecting with and inviting Vietnamese professionals currently working and studying abroad to contribute to the IFC once it is established.
Chinh noted that the city has identified five core task groups and outlined eight specific tasks to guide the development of the IFC.
He proposed that the deputy prime minister direct the Ministry of Finance to coordinate with Da Nang in promptly drafting and advising the government on a decree to guide the establishment of the IFC.
The decree should clearly define priority sectors and areas, and delegate authority to the city government and the IFC’s management agency to approve sandbox initiatives and allow the formation of specialised trading platforms, such as those for digital assets, digital currency, and stock exchanges catering to innovative enterprises.
Concluding the session, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh acknowledged and commended Da Nang’s proactive efforts.
He announced that the National Assembly will meet on June 27 to vote on a resolution to establish the IFC.
The government is committed to supporting the IFC and creating favourable conditions for its effective establishment and operation.
He affirmed that the IFC will serve as a growth engine not only for Da Nang but also for the nation’s overall economic development.
