The Deputy FM warmly congratulated the 17 delegates representing nearly 6.5 million Vietnamese compatriots abroad, who were entrusted by the National Congress of the VFF to serve as members of the VFF Central Committee for the 11th tenure.
She affirmed that this appointment is both an honour and recognition of the delegates’ steadfast and valuable contributions to strengthening ties between overseas Vietnamese communities and their homeland, consolidating the great national unity bloc, promoting the image of Viet Nam and its people to international friends, supporting socio-economic development, and enhancing Viet Nam’s position on the global stage.
In response to the trust and expectations of the Party and State leadership, the delegates pledged to continue fulfilling their new roles in uniting the community, assisting compatriots to integrate more deeply into host societies, intensifying efforts to preserve and promote Vietnamese culture, and advancing the teaching and learning of Vietnamese to maintain connections between younger generations and their roots.
They also committed to serving as a reliable bridge to foster friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and other countries across diverse fields such as the economy, trade, investment, education, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Nguyen Trung Kien praised the close cooperation and effective contributions of the delegates in recent years, affirming that the Committee stands ready to support initiatives aimed at advancing the movement within the community.
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang stressed that the overseas Vietnamese community is expanding in scale, becoming more diverse and younger in composition, and playing a particularly important role in promoting diplomatic, economic and scientific-technological ties, while actively contributing to national construction and defence.
She affirmed that the Party and State always listen to and take on board contributions from compatriots abroad in the country’s policy-making processes, particularly policies concerning overseas Vietnamese.
On this occasion, she invited the delegates to attend the Fifth World Conference of Overseas Vietnamese, expected to be held in August, and affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will continue to accompany and support the activities of the delegates and the overseas Vietnamese community in the time ahead.
