The programme includes a series of activities such as the Designed by Vietnam contest, Design of the Year award and Design Fair Vietnam.
This is the first and largest annual event held jointly by VietNam Design Group, Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS), the Copyright Office of Vietnam (COV) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Hanoi Municipal Department of Culture and Sports, to find and honour outstanding products and designers of Vietnam.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Director of the COV Tran Hoang affirmed: Vietnam Design Week with its exciting, attractive and useful programmes, events and activities each year, not only creates attraction in the design community but also creates a premise for the development of the cultural industry, especially the designs and creativity of the younger generations.
From these results, in the coming time, Vietnam Design Week is expected to gradually become a thriving brand, attracting a large number of attendees and making many useful contributions to the development of the Vietnamese cultural industry.
At the event, the organising committee honoured winners of the Designed by Vietnam contest, with the theme “Embracing Constraints”. Accordingly, the work "Ratla Xuan" by Nguyen Khai Tam, in the field of costume design, excellently won the first-place prize, offering a solution to take advantage of available materials, such as excess threads, fabric scraps, and patterns, to recreate and bring new life to discarded fabrics through hand sewing techniques and embossing to create surfaces, honouring handmade creativity.
In addition, one second-place prize, one third-place prize and three consolation prizes were also presented to other excellent author groups.
In addition to traditional activities, for the first time, the event organised the Design Fair Vietnam. The fair attracted nearly 50 domestic and international design and production units, with more than 100 booths in different fields, including furniture and exterior, furniture and decoration, handicrafts, fashion and media.
