The event offered a platform for Dong Nai leaders to be updated on the obstacles faced by Japanese investors, thereby working out appropriate solutions to facilitate the enterprises’ operation in the most effective fashion, according to Director of the Department Le Van Danh.

He noted that the Department would also continue accelerating administrative reform towards a favourable condition for export and import activities, contributing to enhancing competitiveness of the business community as well as the Japanese business community across the locality.

At the dialogue, the Japanese business community spoke highly of the efforts made by the Dong Nai authorities in renovating administrative procedures and supporting Japanese enterprises’ operation.

Some put forward questions regarding the issues of goods import and export formalities, new provisions on tax and customs, regulations on establishing branches; and a hotline to exchange information with authorised agencies.

Hailing the importance of the dialogue to facilitate legal and effective operation of Japanese businesses, President of the Japanese Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City Maeno Kojil suggested Dong Nai continue organising more forums like this in the future.

At the dialogue, the Dong Nai Customs Department and the Japanese Business Association in Dong Nai signed a co-operation document aiming to set up a direct information channel between the local customs agency and enterprises for jointly performing legal provisions related to goods imports and exports, as well as exit and entry of transport vehicles.

In the first five months of 2016, Dong Nai remained among one of the country’s leading localities in FDI attraction with approximately US$900 million, equivalent to nearly 90% of the year’s target and accounting for 15% of the country’s total FDI capital.

The province is currently Vietnam’s fourth largest recipient of Japanese investment with over 205 projects worth more than US$3.7 billion.
