Dong Thap bestows and posthumously confers title "Heroic Vietnamese Mother"

Dong Thap Province convened a solemn ceremony on July 21 to bestow and posthumously confer the State honorary title "Heroic Vietnamese Mother" for 2026.

At the ceremony, representatives from the leadership of Dong Thap Province announced Decision No. 710 on May 18, 2026, of the State President on conferring the State honorary title "Heroic Vietnamese Mother" to Mother Pham Thi Kien and proclaimed Decision No. 709 on May 18, 2026, of the State President on posthumously conferring the State honorary title "Heroic Vietnamese Mother" to 14 individuals from Dong Thap Province for having made many contributions and sacrifices for the cause of national liberation, building, and protecting the Fatherland.

Representing the relatives of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Huynh Van Hoang, from Tan Phu Dong Commune, Dong Thap Province, emphasised: "My mother was posthumously awarded the honorary title of “Heroic Vietnamese Mother” by the Party and the State. This is a great comfort and encouragement, and a motivation for the families and relatives of the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers to continue upholding the revolutionary tradition; implementing the Party's policies and the State's laws; and encouraging their children and the people to actively participate in socio-economic development movements and lawfully prosper in the locality."

Huynh Van Hoang also expressed his hope that the Party and the State would continue to devote greater attention to and better care for policy beneficiary families and families with meritorious contributions to the revolution; especially caring for and supporting Heroic Vietnamese Mothers to offer some comfort and encouragement for their sacrifices and losses.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pham Thanh Ngai, Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, highlighted that Dong Thap Province has over 194,000 people who have made meritorious contributions to the revolution and receive one-time allowances according to decisions of the Prime Minister; over 20,000 people who have rendered meritorious services and their relatives are receiving monthly allowances. Preferential regimes and policies for people who have rendered meritorious services are always fully and promptly implemented; many activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and families of martyrs are consistently upheld.
