In 2025, the General Department of Defence Industry implemented nearly 200 projects and tasks (including more than 10 national-level projects and nearly 50 Ministry of Defence-level projects) and completed the acceptance of nearly 50 scientific and technological projects and tasks. The department’s participation in the “Youth Innovation”Awards in the Army resulted in 46 projects and initiatives winning awards (including 4 first prizes, 8 second prizes, 25 third prizes, and 9 consolation prizes).
The General Department has made remarkable progress, with revenue in 2025 increasing by 18.9% compared to 2024, the highest figure to date, while average income reached 22.4 million VND/person/month. International cooperation and trade promotion have developed both in breadth and depth.
Concluding the conference, General Phan Van Giang commended the General Department of Defence Industry for comprehensively fulfilling its tasks, with some tasks being completed exceptionally well.
The General Department needs to strictly implement the directives of General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, on “2 steadfast principles, 2 strong initiatives, and 2 preventive measures” and the “5 firm principles”; focus on accelerating breakthroughs in the development of a self-reliant, self-sufficient, dual-use, and modern defence industry; and enhance the research, forecasting, and advisory capabilities towards the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defencein decisively implementing tasks and solutions for key programs, projects, and plans.
He also urged to promote breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation; enhance the efficiency of weapons research and development towards integrated systems and high scientific and technological content; proactively mobilise all resources to research and produce weapons and equipment to enhance the combat strength of the Army; effectively carry out foreign affairs and international cooperation; and expedite the preparation and meticulous organisation of the Viet Nam International Defence Exhibition 2026.
