Fatherland Front leader extends Christmas greetings in Binh Thuan

President of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front (VFF) Do Van Chien extended his Christmas greetings to Catholics during a visit on December 16 to the Phan Thiet Diocese Bishop Residence in the south-central province of Binh Thuan.

Meeting with Bishop Joseph Do Manh Hung, the front leader wished the Catholic community in the Diocese of Phan Thiet a warm, peaceful, healthy and happy Christmas.

Chien said he recognised the contributions of the bishop, priests and Catholic followers in the diocese to socio-economic development, especially the efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and protect the environment.

He expressed his hope that Bishop Joseph Do Manh Hung and the local Catholic community will continue building on the results of the past year to record even greater achievements in the new year.

For his part, Bishop Joseph Do Manh Hung thanked the VFF President for paying attention to the Catholic community and said he will continue encouraging Catholics to actively take part in environmental protection movements and other socio-economic development activities.

The Diocese of Phan Thiet currently has 190,000 Catholics in 102 parishes, accounting for 15.2% of the Binh Thuan population.
