Festival promotes Vietnamese in Russia

The 2023 Vietnamese Festival was held at the campus of the Moscow State Linguistic University in Russia on September 7.

Attending the event were Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi, Rector of Moscow State Linguistic University Irina Kraeva, and representatives from the Oversea Vietnamese Association in Russia and universities teaching Vietnamese in Russia, along with numerous Vietnamese students and overseas Vietnamese.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi said this is the third year the Vietnamese Festival held in Russia.

The event aims to raise the awareness of the overseas Vietnamese community towards the Vietnamese and contribute to preserving and promoting the national cultural identity in the community.

The festival is also expected to inspire the overseas Vietnamese community and international friends to learn Vietnamese, while creating motivation to improve the effectiveness of Vietnamese language teaching and learning.

Expressing his pleasure at the results of Vietnamese teaching and learning in Russia, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi stressed that Russia has many universities teaching Vietnamese and researching Vietnam, including those in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, and Vladivostok.

He noted that the Vietnamese Embassy will continue to coordinate with the Vietnamese Association in Russia to create favourable conditions to support the further development of Vietnamese language teaching in Russia.

The Ambassador was pleased to say that recently, the Vietnamese Association in Russia has established a fund with the aim of not only motivating and encouraging children in the Vietnamese community to learn Vietnamese, but also Russian students.

On the occasion, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi presents certificates of merit to Russian students who gained outstanding achievements in learning Vietnamese, as well as Vietnamese language teachers at universities in Russia.

At the event, Vietnamese students performed many unique art performances, while Russian students recited poems and sang typical Vietnamese songs.

Russian students and overseas Vietnamese children who gained high results in the previously launched contest named “I love Vietnamese” were presented awards.

Earlier, within the framework of the Vietnamese Festival in Russia, a forum titled “Vietnamese in Russia: prospects and challenges” was held in both online and offline formats in Vietnam and several universities in Russia.

At the forum, the delegates made many presentations on new trends in teaching and learning Vietnamese at Russian universities, as well as the study of Russian students in Vietnam.
