Field hospital put into operation in response to COVID-19 outbreak in Ho Chi Minh City

The People’s Committee of Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City has coordinated with Thong Nhat Hospital to inaugurate and put into operation a multi-tier field hospital for the treatment of COVID-19 patients on August 18.

With a scale of 1,000 beds, the hospital specialises in collecting, screening, quarantining, first aid, care, monitoring and treatment for mild, moderate and severe COVID-19 patients.

With a scale of 1,000 beds, the hospital specialises in collecting, screening, quarantining, first aid, care, monitoring and treatment for mild, moderate and severe COVID-19 patients according to the guidelines and professional expertise of the Ministry of Health and the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, helping share and reduce the load for upper-level hospitals.

The human resources for the treatment here include doctors, nurses and logistical forces mobilised from Thong Nhat Hospital, Tan Binh District Hospital, Tan Binh Medical Centre as well as from medical forces, retired doctors and volunteers.

On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh municipal Party Committee presented 2 HFNC high-flow oxygen treatment machines and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilisation Department presented 3,000 protective suits to the field hospital in Tan Binh district.

Also on August 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Young Physicians Association in coordination with the Phu Nhuan District Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control launched a team named “Accompanying F0s to recover from the disease”.

The team, which comprises of 52 doctors, nurses, and technicians from the Association, will be divided into 13 groups and will coordinate with rapid response forces, young volunteers, and ward health centres to provide medical consultation, examination and treatment for COVID-19 patients in the 13 wards of Phu Nhuan District.

On the same day, the Department of Health in the central city of Da Nang city sent an official dispatch requesting medical examination and treatment units to notify phone numbers to support medical examination and treatment; as well as deploying Doctor4U software to support free medical consultation and examination for local people.
