Chargé d’Affaires Duong Binh affirmed that, throughout the past 80 years, overcoming countless difficulties and challenges during the struggle for national independence as well as in the process of building and developing the country, Viet Nam has achieved great and historically significant accomplishments in all fields. From being a poor, colonised country, Viet Nam has become one of the 35 largest economies in the world and ranks among the top 20 nations with the largest scale of international trade.

On this occasion, Chargé d’Affaires Duong Binh expressed gratitude for the solidarity, invaluable and wholehearted support that the Cuban people had given to Viet Nam during its most difficult years, from aid in sugar, milk, medicine to training human resources.

Stressing that supporting Cuba is a duty, a command from the heart of every Vietnamese, and also the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh’s Testament, Chargé d’Affaires Duong Binh affirmed that Viet Nam is ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Cuba in overcoming all challenges, as the largest Asian investor and the second largest trading partner of Cuba in the continent.

At the flower offering ceremony, Fernando Gonzalez Llort, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), extended his warmest congratulations to the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day.

Praising the campaign “65 years of Viet Nam-Cuba Solidarity” launched by the Viet Nam Red Cross, which attracted nearly 2 million participants in just three weeks, Fernando Gonzalez Llort considered it a vivid symbol of strong friendship.
