The event was chaired by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo Member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defence.
The event was also attended by General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, member of the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission and Director of the General Department of Politics of the Viet Nam People’s Army (VPA); and General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the VPA and Deputy Minister of National Defence; along with members of the Party Central Committee; leaders of the Ministry of National Defence, the General Staff, and the General Department of Politics; heads of the General Departments of Logistics-Engineering, Defence Industry, and General Department II; leaders of agencies and units under the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defence; representatives of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilisation Commissions; leaders of the ministries of Public Security and Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Ha Noi People’s Committee; representatives of Army and Militia and Self-Defence forces participating in the parade; and journalists from press, radio and television agencies.

In line with the instructions of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence regarding the participation of the Army and Militia-Self-Defence forces in the parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Viet Nam, the General Staff directed units to survey the venue and draw up plans for organising the forces.

Speaking on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, General Phan Van Giang praised and congratulated the outstanding achievements of officers and soldiers of the Army and Militia-Self-Defence forces who took part in the parade. Alongside other forces, all Army and Militia and Self-Defence formations performed excellently, contributing to the grandeur of the parade.


The results of the parade by the Army and Militia-Self-Defence forces were highly valued by the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam as well as international friends. It was seen as a vivid testimony of historic moments, a part of history itself, and a beautiful, proud memory never to be forgotten. The contributions of these forces spread a profound message of the aspiration for independence, freedom, peace, and friendship to international friends, while also inspiring deep pride and emotion among compatriots, officials, and soldiers across the country.

At the ceremony, the organising committee announced that proposals had been made for the prime minister to award certificates of merit to collectives and individuals. It also publicised decisions by the minister of National Defence and the chairman of the General Department of Politics of the VPA to confer certificates of merit on collectives and individuals who had excelled in planning, organising and participating in the activities marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Viet Nam.
