In his remarks, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo Member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defence, praised the sector for working behind the scenes to protect confidential information of the Party and state, significantly contributing to the past struggle for national liberation and reunification as well as the present cause of national construction and defence.
He pointed to current global and regional uncertainties, including robust scientific-technological development, especially IT and telecommunications, wicked plots byhostile forces, and cyber warfare, taking shape as challenges to test the sector in the coming time.
The sector needs to team up with other forces, such as police, army, and diplomacy, and make the best use of domestic scientific and technological resources in overcoming these challenges to serve socio-economic development, he said, expressing his belief that the cipher sector will carry forward its traditions and accomplish all assigned tasks to remain deserving of its position as one of the reliable forces of the Party and state in national security protection.
