GTel Mobile also introduced a new calling plan in which customers can earn up to VND1 billion (US$480,000) credit to their accounts over ten years.

Gmobile currently has about three million subscribers and is providing network coverage to 60% of the Vietnamese population.

The company has installed 600 base transceiver stations (BTS) across the country since May and plans to install an additional 1,000 BTS next year in order to expand its coverage and enhance transmission quality.

Last April, Vimpelcom decided to sell its entire 49% stake in the joint venture back to GTel Mobile and give up all the control it had in the company.

GTel Mobile had to discontinue using Vimpelcom’s Beeline trademark after a six-month transition period.
