Accordingly, following the direction of the Ministry of Construction, the CAAV requests Long Thanh International Airport to take the lead and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to conduct a comprehensive review of the bus route organisation plan as proposed by the localities. This system includes inter-provincial and intra-provincial bus routes, and especially a route directly connecting the two largest air gateways in the southern region: Long Thanh International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Regarding technique and infrastructure, the CAAV requires the airport operator to study and propose specific locations for the starting and ending points of bus routes within the airport area. The identification of stops, parking areas, and passenger pick-up and drop-off points at the passenger terminal and public areas must ensure the following criteria: convenience, safety, accessibility, minimising traffic conflicts, and compatibility with the overall traffic organisation plan of the entire project.
Notably, the study requirement also emphasises assessing the capacity of the infrastructure to accommodate future expansion demands. At the same time, relevant units are required to align with green transition policies by prioritising the development of electric bus system in support of sustainable development goals.
Based on the study results, Long Thanh International Airport will be responsible for providing official feedback on proposals submitted by the Departments of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province. The review will focus on implementation roadmaps and coordination mechanisms among local state management agencies.
For the Southern Airports Authority, the CAAV has requested close cooperation in monitoring and reviewing infrastructure and traffic organisation plans, while proactively identifying challenges and proposing timely solutions. Proposed plans must ensure a balance between convenience and strict requirements for safety, security, and order at the airport.
According to Uong Viet Dung, Head of the CAAV, the results of the implementation will be reported by the relevant units to the CAAV, which will then compile a plan for organising connecting bus routes and submit it to the Ministry of Construction for consideration and decision.
Long Thanh International Airport is being built on an area of 5,000 hectares with a total investment of over 336 trillion VND. Long Thanh is currently the largest airport in the country, divided into three phases. Phase one is scheduled for completion at the end of 2025, with operations starting in 2026, capable of serving 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo annually. The airport will not only serve travel needs but also act as a growth pole for the entire southern key economic region, with Ho Chi Minh City playing a central role.
