Hai Phong grants investment certificates to four projects worth total of 15 trillion VND

The Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority granted investment certificates to four new projects in the Hai Phong Economic Zone at a ceremony on May 9.

The investment certificates were handed over to the project on building container berths No.7 and 8 at Lach Huyen Wharf in the Hai Phong seaport and three FDI projects in the Hai Phong Economic Zone.

The construction of the container berths No.7 and 8 is invested by Saigon Newport Corporation. The construction project has a total investment of about 12.8 trillion VND (545.3 million USD) which will build two container berths of 450m long each.

The berth can handle container ships of up to 18,000 TEUs, with throughput of about 1.9 million TEUs per year.

The Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority also granted investment certificates to three FDI projects worth a total of 91 million USD.

The first project is an energy equipment manufacturing project of Starcharge Energy Pte.Ltd. from Singapore. The project aims to produce electric vehicle charging stations with a total investment of nearly 331 billion VND (14 million USD).

Another project is HW Energy invested by of HW International Investment Holdings Pte., Ltd., specialising in the production of alkaline batteries and zinc-carbon batteries with a total investment of nearly 50 million USD.

The third FDI project is Thinking Electronics Vietnam, which aims to produce electronic components with a total investment of 27 million USD from Thinking Electronic Industrial Co., Ltd.

Hai Phong has attracted 17 new FDI projects while nine FDI projects have increased their capital, with total investment capital of nearly 500 million USD since early this year. During the five-month period, the city has also attracted six projects invested by domestic enterprises with a total registered capital of 46.5 million USD.
