The 2023 Hanoi Autumn Festival: “Hanoi in Autumn – Come to love”
Taking place from September 29 to October 1, the 2023 Hanoi Autumn Festival, themed “Hanoi in Autumn – Come to love”, is the first event assigned by the city for organisation, to the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA), aiming to honour Hanoi's tourism, culture, heritage, and nature.
The festival includes a wide variety of activities, such as the spaces entitled ‘Autumn Flavours’, ‘Autumn Gifts’ and ‘Light Garden’, which are arranged and staged into display areas; the miniatures introducing attractive tourist destinations during the fall, such as Long Bien Bridge, Hanoi Old Quarter, One Pillar Pagoda, Me Linh flower village and Duong Lam ancient village; a space introducing Hanoi’s cuisine with hundreds of traditional dishes combined with promotional activities and a demonstration of culinary quintessence; a show of Ao Dai and wedding dresses according to the timeline; painting contest themed “Hanoi in my eyes”; street music activities; and a conference on MICE & Golf tourism development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival on the evening of September 29, Vice Chairman of Hanoi Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasised, that the 2023 Hanoi Autumn Festival aims to contribute to the process of growth and comprehensive development of the capital city’s tourism, both in scale and service quality, as well as the increase of the number and quality of tourists towards ensuring the sustainability and development of high-quality tourism products, imbued with national cultural identity and being environmentally friendly.

The Vice Chairman of the Municipal People's Committee expressed his hope that with experiences at the festival, visitors will have deep impressions of Hanoi, an attractive, safe, friendly and trustworthy destination. It is thought that the Hanoi Autumn Festival will be an annual activity held at this time so that on each autumn occasion, tourists from all over the country and the world, can "meet each other in the autumn sky of Hanoi".

The 2023 Hanoi Autumn Festival features 150 pavilions, divided into areas according to designs along Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Thach Streets and Bat Giac House in the Ly Thai To Flower Park. The festival attracts the participation of ten districts including Hoan Kiem, Me Linh, Quoc Oai, Ung Hoa, Ba Dinh, Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Dong Da, Ba Vi and Gia Lam, introducing their tourism development potential with specific tourism products and heritages.
In particular, many districts have made meticulous investments and gradually improved the professionalism of tourism promotion work. Ung Hoa District provides the experience of sewing Ao Dai within three hours at the space of Trach Xa Ao Dai Village, as well as promotes traditional crafts in the locality such as Quang Phu Cau Village’s incenses and Dao Xa Village’s traditional musical instruments.
The highlight of the festival is the Carnival which is elaborately staged with the performance of nearly 2,000 ethnic minority people and locals from various districts and towns around the city.
In addition, the festival attracted the participation of 14 other provinces and cities including Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Phu Yen, Dong Nai and An Giang.

Especially, citizens and visitors to the festival will see many images promoting the land and people of foreign countries, including Cuba, India, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Palestine.
