Hanoi Cultural Day promotes Vietnam – US friendship

The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HAUFO) and the Vietnam – US Friendship Association of Hanoi held the 2023 Vietnam – US Friendship Cultural Day on July 15.

The friendship cultural day, as part of activities to mark the 28th anniversary of Vietnam – US diplomatic ties (July 12, 1995 -2023) and the tenth anniversary of the Vietnam – US comprehensive partnership (July 25, 2013-2023), is a person-to-person diplomacy activity to further tighten the good relationship between the two countries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dinh Hong Phong, Chairman of the Vietnam – US Friendship Association of Hanoi and Deputy Director of Municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, stressed that the relationship between Vietnam and the US has experienced many ups and downs but has achieved remarkable achievements, witnessing a strong development of economic, cultural and political cooperation between the two countries.

He also affirmed that the Vietnam – US relationship has brought many benefits to both countries and people. Vietnamese leaders have always wished to constantly consolidate and develop relations with the US, the comprehensive partner of Vietnam in the Asia-Pacific. Hanoi has also always attached importance to cooperation with US localities through the meetings between the leaders of the cities, business forums and exchanges.

The friendship between Vietnam and the US was expressed through vivid paintings, unique art performances and traditional dishes.

For his part, the US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper expressed his sincere thanks to the HAUFO and the Vietnam – US Friendship Association of Hanoi for the careful preparation of the meaningful activities.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam and the US have been witnessing close cooperation in many fields, from trade, investment, security, law enforcement, culture, person to person diplomacy, climate and energy.

Education cooperation is a foundation for our two countries’ relationship in the future. We are very proud that more than 30,000 Vietnamese students study in the US and that Vietnam is the country with the fifth highest number of students there.

At the programme, Vice President of the HAUFO Nguyễn Nam Hải expressed his hope that the US Embassy in Vietnam and Ambassador Marc Knapper will continue to give attention, coordination and support to cooperation activities held by the union.

A wide variety of interesting and attractive activities were held during the programme including the introduction of Vietnamese dishes, a painting contest, a cultural and art exchange programme with various songs and dances praising the patriotism, the image of the landscape and people of Vietnam and the Vietnam – US friendship.

The activities created a joyful, exciting, open and friendly atmosphere, honoring the culture, traditions and friendship of Vietnam and other countries.

This was also an opportunity to promote the country and people of Vietnam in general, and the capital Hanoi in particular, to international friends.
