The Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025 is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the global animation industry.
The "Vietnam-France Animation Film Development Plan" event took place in Hanoi, on February 21. This is an important event within the two countries' cultural and cinema cooperation framework.
The event was attended by the French Embassy, the Department of Cinema, prestigious organisations in the animation industry such as the Vietnam Digital Content Creation Alliance (DCCA), the Vietnam Animation and VFX Association (VAVA), representatives of the organising board of the Animation Film Festival "Stream of Desire" and prestigious experts in the field.
In particular, the event had the presence of Jeremy Sagay - representative of the French Embassy in Vietnam, the unit that has supported opening up many international opportunities for Vietnamese animation.
The Department of Cinema of Vietnam assessed the domestic animation market share and audience popularity level, acknowledging the efforts but pointing out the areas that need to be overcome compared to the international market. In addition, the Department of Cinema also shared the development orientation of Vietnamese animation in the next 5-10 years, to propose potential directions for the industry.
According to Jeremy Sagay, French Embassy, the Vietnamese market is located in the region with the largest growth rate of the animation industry in the world. Although the production resources are still young, the potential for creativity and development is extremely large.
He also shared valuable lessons from French animation - one of the most developed animation markets in the world, along with plans to promote cooperation opportunities between the two countries, thereby supporting Vietnamese animation to access more international markets.
Pioneering the combination of the two Vietnamese-French animation industries is Vietnam's first participation at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2025. This activity marks an important milestone when many "Make in Vietnam" animation products will be introduced at the international playground.
At Annecy 2025, Vietnam will have the opportunity to open a booth to display outstanding domestic animation products and directly contact investors, as well as international film studios, expanding opportunities for Vietnamese units to reach out to the big world.
The project is sponsored by the French Embassy and receives active support from VAVA and DCCA organisations. This is the result of diplomatic activities and developing opportunities in the international arena. Jeremy said the French Embassy is ready to support connection opportunities for many animation units in Vietnam.
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival was established in 1960 in the town of Annecy, France, and has been held annually since 1998. This is one of four international animation film festivals sponsored by the Association Internationale du Film d'Animation (ASIFA). It is a gathering place for leading animators and receives great attention from the international public.
