Hanoi welcomes 160,000 tourists during New Year 2025

Hanoi recorded 160,000 tourist arrivals during the 2025 New Year holiday, a 17% increase compared to the same period in 2024, despite being a one-day holiday.

Of these, international visitors accounted for approximately 28,400, up 67%, while domestic tourists reached around 132,000, a 10% rise. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 594 billion VND, marking year-on-year growth of 26%.

To attract visitors, the city introduced new programmes and events, including the “Herbalife Countdown Party 2025” at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and the “Trust The Moment” concert at Cach Mang Thang Tam Square. Pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake remained open from 7 PM on December 31, 2024, to midnight on January 1, 2025, providing ample recreational opportunities.

Hanoi’s suburban areas also attracted tourists with activities such as visiting flower villages like Hong Van, exploring the Phu Dong tourist site, and enjoying rural experiences in Tich Giang. Notable destinations included Quang Phu Cau Incense Village and Bat Trang Pottery Village. Outdoor activities such as camping and hiking in Hanoi’s outskirts were also popular.

Major tourist sites in the city saw high turnout, including Hanoi Zoo with 18,535 visitors, Thang Long Imperial Citadel with 8,000, and Duong Lam Ancient Village with over 2,000. The average hotel occupancy rate for 4 and 5-star accommodations reached 80%, with some establishments including InterContinental Hanoi Westlake and Lacasa achieving 100% occupancy.

Hanoi reinforced safety, sanitation, and security measures, maintaining its reputation as a top holiday destination.
