During the period, major tourist sites and entertainment areas across the province attracted large numbers of visitors for sightseeing and leisure activities. Overall visitor numbers increased by 20–30% compared to normal days, with particularly positive signals seen in the rise of international arrivals.

Specifically, from December 31, 2025 to January 2, 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed around 530,000 visitors, including 44,400 foreign tourists. The number of overnight guests was estimated at 158,000, while total tourism revenue reached approximately 1.28 trillion VND (over 48.55 million USD).

On January 1 alone, the province recorded about 160,000 visitors, comprising 142,000 domestic and 18,000 international. Overnight stays reached 61,000, generating tourism revenue of about 432 billion VND. Visitor numbers are expected to remain stable in the following days.

Ha Long Bay continued to be the most popular destination, drawing an average of more than 12,000 visitors per day, the majority of whom were foreign tourists.

To welcome the New Year 2026, more than 10 cruise ships, floating restaurants and sightseeing vessels on the bay hosted year-end parties featuring art performances and fireworks displays. These high-end tourism products have been well received by visitors, helping reinforce Ha Long Bay’s reputation for quality services and unique experiences.

Other major attractions in the province also reported significant increases in visitor numbers, up 20–30% compared to regular days. Sun World Ha Long welcomed around 7,000 visitors, the Quang Ninh Museum nearly 2,500, and the Yen Tu historical and scenic relic site about 4,600.

To stimulate demand and attract visitors, the province has organised a wide range of cultural, sports and tourism activities starting from December 31. Notably, the art programme “Quang Ninh – Welcome New Year 2026” drew more than 50,000 spectators in person and hundreds of thousands online. Many localities also hosted countdown music festivals, film screenings and ceremonial events to mark the New Year.

To ensure service quality during the holiday, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism required tourism sites and businesses to strengthen inspections and supervision, maintain infrastructure and facilities, and enhance safety measures, including fire prevention, security and food hygiene.
