At the event, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee presented Certificates of Merit to 90 exemplary cultural and happy families. Awards were also given to organisations and individuals who had made outstanding results in implementing the “Criteria for building happy families” under the project “Research and development of criteria for assessing happy families in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2021-2030 period.”
Nguyen Thanh Trung, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasised that President Ho Chi Minh had always paid great attention to the role of the family. He once stated: “The nucleus of society is the family.”
His view serves as a reminder to every individual to cherish family values and join hands to preserve and build happy families.
During the Doi Moi (Renewal) period, the Party and State have consistently affirmed the vital role of families in the sustainable development of the country, introducing numerous policies aimed at preserving family values and creating the best conditions for all sectors and individuals to build prosperous and happy Vietnamese families.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Trung noted that although each honoured family comes from different professions and generations, they all share the common characteristic of striving to build a happy family life and actively participating in community activities.
He expressed his hope that each family would be like a beautiful flower, contributing to a vibrant and fragrant garden in the city named after President Ho Chi Minh.
From happy families, the country can draw abundant human resources, rich in both intellect and ethics, making significant contributions to industrialisation, modernisation, and the strong, sustainable development of the nation. This, he said, embodies the profound meaning of the theme “Happy Families — Prosperous Nation.”
The ceremony also featured a special art performance, with the participation of many well-known artists.
