The announcement was made at a conference held by the Son La provincial Party Committee on October 12, where Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Chairman of its Organisation Commission Le Minh Hung attended and delivered remarks.
Nghiem, who is also head of the 15th National Assembly deputies' delegation of Lang Son, will cease his current post as Secretary of the Lang Son Party Committee and related positions, and assume the new roles as member of the Party Committee of Son La province, member of the Son La Party Committee's Standing Board, and Secretary of this committee. He will also join the Party Committee of Military Region 2.
At the event, Hung stressed that Nghiem, a Tay ethnic born in 1968 in Lang Son province, is a capable and experienced official in the Party building and state management, known for his decisiveness, close ties with localities, and strong ability to unite and lead. Over more than three decades in Lang Son, he has excellently fulfilled his duties and contributed to the province’s comprehensive achievements.
The Politburo is confident that Nghiem, with his considerable experience and mettle, will complete his duties, Hung said, urging local authorities to promote solidarity and support the new leader to further advance Son La’s development in the coming time.
He also instructed the new provincial leader to swiftly translate the resolution of the 2025–2030 Son La Party Congress into action, establish working regulations, arrange personnel in line with rules, and enhance solidarity and innovation within the local Party Organisation.
In his speech, Nghiem expressed his deep gratitude to the Politburo, Party General Secretary To Lam, the Secretariat, and the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission for entrusting him with leading the Party Organisation of Son La province, a land rich in history and revolutionary tradition and holding great importance in terms of socio-economic development, national defence, and security of the Northwest.
He pledged to quickly grasp the situation in Son La, uphold the province’s noble revolutionary legacy, and continue to improve his political mettle, affirming determination to leverage the locality’s strengths, overcome challenges, and fulfil the targets set by the 16th provincial Party Congress to contribute to the implementation of the resolution of the 14th National Party Congress.
