On February 1 (local time), the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique held the “Homeland Spring” celebration with the participation of a large number of Vietnamese expatriates, representatives of Vietnamese businesses operating in the country, experts, Vietnamese workers, and all embassy staff.
Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Tran Thi Thu Thin briefed the community on the country’s notable socio-economic development achievements, foreign affairs and international integration over the past year, highlighting in particular the Politburo’s issuance of several important and breakthrough resolutions on guidelines, institutions and policies. The Ambassador also shared key outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress, stressing that the Congress marked a new stage of development with major policy decisions, reflecting the determination and aspiration of the Vietnamese nation to rise strongly, with the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and a developed, high-income country by 2045.
Reviewing the embassy’s work over the past year, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin underlined the special significance of 2025 in Viet Nam–Mozambique relations, as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with a wide range of activities, including enhanced delegation exchanges and vibrant economic diplomacy, cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges.
She expressed her appreciation for the close support and companionship of the Vietnamese community in Mozambique, affirming that the community’s solidarity and spirit of mutual support have helped build an image of a resilient, self-reliant and humane Viet Nam in the host country amid global economic, security and political uncertainties.
Also on February 1, 2026, the Vietnamese Embassy in Sweden, in coordination with Vietnamese community associations, solemnly organised the “Homeland Spring 2026” programme in the city of Malmö. This year’s programme is being held at two locations to enable broader participation by the overseas Vietnamese community, with the second event scheduled to take place in Stockholm on February 5, 2026.
In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to Sweden Tran Van Tuan extended New Year greetings to the entire Vietnamese community in Sweden and briefed participants on Viet Nam’s outstanding achievements in 2025.
According to the Ambassador, the country’s socio-economic situation has remained stable, growth has been sustained, and foreign affairs have recorded significant achievements, further enhancing Viet Nam’s position and prestige on the international stage. He emphasised that these accomplishments have been supported by the active contributions of overseas Vietnamese communities, including those in Sweden.
Both ambassadors affirmed that the “Homeland Spring” programme is not only an annual cultural activity but also a meaningful spiritual space for overseas Vietnamese to connect with one another, preserve traditional cultural values, promote community cohesion, and spread the image of Viet Nam and its people, thereby contributing to the strengthening of friendship between Viet Nam and host countries.
