I love Vietnamese food culture: New Zealand chef

“I love the Vietnamese culture of eating together around a table and the large focus on fresh herbs, vegetables and rice,” said Master Chef New Zealand on her visit to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from May 4-8.

Nadia said she had previously travelled to Vietnam on a food tour, describing it as one of the best travel and food experiences she has ever had.

Nadia Lim, the well-known New Zealand food author and cook is visiting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City as one of the highlights of the ‘New Zealand – Open to the New’ season, celebrating 40 years of friendship and diplomatic relations between New Zealand and Vietnam. During her visit, Nadia is showcasing her special cooking style, and premium New Zealand food and wine, and promoting links between New Zealand and Vietnam through food.

“My best memories are created around food – through the simple act of sharing a meal around the table, so too are stories, knowledge and laughter shared”, wrote Nadia Lim.

During the visit, Nadia will conduct cooking demonstrations and tutorials for lecturers and students at the Saigon Tourist Cooking School in Ho Chi Minh City and the Hanoi Tourism School. She also plans to visit the Ba Chieu Home for Girls to learn more from the home’s residents about Vietnamese cooking traditions.

She will also direct two cooking shows for local TV and will be the special guest at a dinner hosted at the Sofitel Metropole Hotel in Hanoi aiming to raising funds for the Blue Dragon Foundation.

She is also the guest of honour at the New Zealand Food Connections event in Hanoi on May 6, aiming to showcase premium New Zealand food and beverages to Vietnam’s leading F&B professionals.

The annual New Zealand Food Connection’s event has been run by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise for the last 10 years in both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
