Presenting the commemorative speech, Lieutenant General Pham Dang Khoa, Director General of the Immigration Department, emphasised that throughout the history of the People's Security Force, the immigration management force has played a vital frontline role in safeguarding national security, maintaining public order and safety, representing Viet Nam to the international community, facilitating the country's international integration, and contributing directly to socio-economic growth.
Through its integrated technological systems, digital infrastructure, data resources, and specialised operational facilities, the new centre will enhance the department's capacity to collect, consolidate, analyse, and process information. It is expected to strengthen forecasting capabilities, enable the early detection and handling of complex immigration-related situations, and support policy recommendations and operational responses concerning immigration management, foreign nationals, border gates, aviation security, and other related fields.
The centre will also serve as an important platform for data governance and administrative reform in the field of immigration management. More effective data connectivity, utilisation, and analysis will contribute to improving the quality of state administration, strengthening crime prevention and law enforcement, and enhancing the delivery of administrative services for citizens, organisations, and foreign nationals.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang called on the Immigration Department to accelerate the application of science and technology in immigration management in order to achieve a fundamental and transformative breakthrough, particularly in the management of foreign nationals residing in Viet Nam.
He urged the department to prioritise research and propose comprehensive solutions that make effective use of advanced technologies, big data, and artificial intelligence across all aspects of immigration management. He also called for proactive measures to optimise the operation of the immigration command, operations, and control centre.
The minister stressed that the immigration management force must lead by example in promoting a spirit of decisive action, discipline, accountability, and effective implementation in serving the Party and the people. He further emphasised the need to raise standards across all aspects of security and public order at international border gates, ensure absolute aviation security, and prevent even the slightest lapse in security measures.
