International Day of Yoga celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City

The Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the city’s Union of Friendship Association held a ceremony on June 21 to celebrate the International Day of Yoga.

Addressing the event, Indian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Madan Mohan Sethi said that under the theme ‘Yoga for One World One Health’, the programme highlights the unity and harmony between the individual and the community for common health.

The International Day of Yoga is held annually to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga practice in the community, he said, adding that yoga helps to connect people, balance life, and maintain mental and physical health.

For his part, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh Municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Nam Nhan hailed that activities held within the framework of the International Day of Yoga provide an opportunity for yoga practitioners to improve their health and get a deeper understanding about Indian culture.

The 2023 International Day of Yoga has been observed in more than 35 cities and provinces in Vietnam, expecting to draw more than 10,000 people.
