The gold medal was claimed by the trio of Bui Ngoc Nhi, Hoang Thi Thu Uyen, and Nguyen Ngoc Tram on September 22 in the women’s team kata event in karate.
Acting on the instructions of Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, Deputy Director-General of the Sports Authority of Viet Nam and Head of the Vietnamese delegation at ASIAD 20, Nguyen Hong Minh, awarded a cash prize of 200 million VND to the women’s kata team.
The team also received 50 million VND from the Public Security Sports Association, while athlete Nguyen Ngoc Tram was individually awarded 100 million VND by T&T Group.
Deputy Director-General Nguyen Hong Minh expressed his delight at the team’s success, noting that the first gold medal would serve as a powerful source of motivation for the Vietnamese athletes to compete with greater confidence and strive for even stronger results in the days ahead.
